Introduce yourself
My name is Alyz Henrich, Miss Venezuela, and I have the honor to wear the Miss Earth 2013 crown. I have a degree in Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, I love my country Venezuela, and I support all resolutions to problems. I also have my own charity work and I strive to be a model of success to women.
I am 23 years old and I have a boyfriend who is very proud of me, he had wished that he came with me in Egypt but his work prevented him. I am very happy that I'm here in Egypt the Mother of all Civilizations and History.
What is the purpose of the conference and who invited you to come here?
I am very happy for the invitation by the United Nations, Egypt Ministry of Tourism and Sawiris Foundation - my hosts during my stay and Peachy Veneracion the Vice President and Project Director of Carousel Productions Inc., organizers of Miss Earth pageant.
I am here to participate in all the events of the conference and give talks about biodiversity and its problems and I am over joyed by the fact that the conference is participated by students from various schools and Universities.
Is this your first visit in Egypt? How do you find it?
I know about the ancient monuments in Egypt and it was my dream to come. It came true because of the conference in the charming El Gouna, Hurghada. It is a wonderful city. I am extremely pleased by the hospitality of the Egyptians, they embraced me as soon as I step on the country with warm welcomes and flowers. I am happy to talk to you for welcoming me and your hospitality. I do not fear the demonstrations happening in Egypt, it is happening in Venezuela too, it is becoming normal to me. I see that people are free to express their opinions safely and with security.

LET'S TAKE CARE OF THE PLANET
This year’s conference hosted Miss Earth 2013, Alyz Henrich, as a special guest. After coming a long way from Venezuela to Egypt to participate in the conference, Henrich said that “it’s an honour for me to be here, because there are a lot of nice activities and workshops.”
Throughout the conference, Henrich engaged in discussions with the delegates on environment and culture and on her experience as Miss Earth. On March 10, she led a workshop on waste and waste recycling in Abu Monkar, a protected island in the Red Sea.
Henrich explained that the Miss Earth competition was different from other beauty pageants, as it was mainly concerned with helping the earth. In order to enter the Miss Earth contest, the contestants had had to carry out environmental advocacy in their countries. “My dream is to take care of the planet because it’s my home, your home and everybody’s home,” Henrich told the Weekly.
She said that scarcity of water was the most serious problem facing the earth in her view because it was essential to all aspects of life.
