Paulina Vega from Colombia was crowned Miss Universe in Doral City, Miami, Florida. She was the second Colombian beauty queen to captured the Miss Universe title after Luz Marina Zuluaga won the crown in 1958.
Nia Sanchez of the USA was 1st runner up, while Ukraine's Diana Harkusha placed 2nd runner up, 3rd runner up went to Yasmin Verheijen from the Netherlands and Kaci Fennell, Miss Jamaica was announced as 4th runner up. The pageant was marred by booing from the crowd following the announcement of Miss Jamaica's 4th runner up placement.
